In between tours with the reformed Band in the 1980s and into the 1990s, Rick Danko played a lot of live shows, as a soloist or sometimes with a couple of accompanying musicians. He clearly enjoyed playing for a live audience and, as these recordings demonstrate, they enjoyed what he was delivering.
Disc one of this set was recorded at the Cubby Bear club in Chicago in December 1989. It features more bluesy content than the second, with interpretations of Robert Johnson’s ‘Walking Blues’, ‘Little Red Rooster’, ‘CC Rider’ and ‘Spoonful’, as well as choice selections from The Band catalogue, and ‘Java Blues’ from his self-titled Arista solo debut album.
Disc two consists of a show in Amagansett in October 1997 and is littered with gems from The Band catalogue, all brought to you at mid-price.
