Drummer PIP PYLE has played with many Prog. Rock bands including GONG, HATFIELD AND THE NORTH, and NATIONAL HEALTH. UP was originally released in 1991 and features ELTON DEAN, PAUL ROGERS, and SOPHIA DOMANCICH. The longest track ‘Thunder/ A.R Rennes’ clocks in at twenty-three minutes and is where the band stretches out into free jazz territory, and is considered by many to be the highlight of the album. The album was recorded in three days at Studio De Chennevieres in October 1990. PIP PYLES only composition for the album ‘Cauliflower Ears’ makes a lively opening number with good featured spots for everyone involved. This is followed by ELTON DEAN’s (ex SOFT MACHINE) song ‘Amber’ a trickier piece resolutely Canterbury-esque in spirit.
