The late ALLEN TOUSSAINT was a legendary figure of New Orleans R’n’B.
As a producer, songwriter, arranger, and solo artist, he wore all these hats over the course of his lengthy and prolific career.
His behind the scenes work alone would’ve been enough to make him a true legend.
He has worked with ELVIS COSTELLO, LITTLE FEAT, PAUL SIMON, DOCTOR JOHN, amongst many others.
The Chicago Blues Festival began in 1984 one year after the death of MUDDY WATERS.
TOUSSAINT headlined on the Sunday night of the festival, and is considered to be the chief architect of sixties New Orleans R’nB.
