Gregg Allman was was an American musician, singer and songwriter. With his brother Duane, he founded The Allman Brothers Band.
Allman grew up with an interest in rhythm and blues music, and The Allman Brothers Band fused it with rock music, jazz, and country. He wrote several of the band's most popular songs, including "Whipping Post", "Melissa", and "Midnight Rider". Allman also had a successful solo career, releasing seven studio albums.
I’m No Angel was originally released in 1986, and was his first solo album since 1977’s “Playing of the Storm”. It produced a top 50 single hit with the title track, and went on to sell over half a million copies, leading to a reformation of The Allman Brothers Band less than 3 years later.
Just Before the Bullets Fly was the follow up released in 1988, the title track being a co-write with Gov’t Mule’s Warren Haynes.
Allman passed away in 2017 at the age of 70.
