‘Amazing Grace’ originally released on the TESTAMENT label in 1966 is a spellbinding collection of Blues gospel recordings. MISSISSIPPI FRED McDOWELL was 64 when he cut the sixteen tracks found here. For these recordings the ‘Delta Blues Man’ explores his reverent side with assistance from his wife ANNIE MAE. ‘Jesus on the Main Line’ was covered by RY COODER while THE ROLLING STIONES adopted ‘You’ve Got to Move’. ‘My Home Is in the Delta’ is a collection of Blues and Spirituals recorded with his wife ANNIE. Amazingly FRED McDOWELL has been around as long as SON HOUSE, ROBERT JOHNSON, and others. He was just never recorded until the early sixties. ESSENTIAL.
