Kenny Loggins is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist. His early songwriting compositions were recorded with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in 1970, which led to seven albums performing with Jim Messina from 1972 to 1977. As a solo artist, Loggins had a string of hit songs for film soundtracks, including an Academy Award nomination for "Footloose" in 1984. And he also co-wrote the song "What a Fool Believes" with Michael McDonald who had a Number 1 hit with the song for The Doobie Brothers. Loggins went on to form the group Blue Sky Riders with Gary Burr and Georgia Middleman releasing their album Finally Home in 2013.
Alive was released in 1980 and contains material from Loggins' three previous solo albums, as well as a previously unreleased song "All Alone Tonight", "I'm Alright" (the theme from Caddyshack) and a cover of The Beatles "Here There and Everywhere". It’s an enjoyable live set that may not contain many surprises, but boasts solid performances and a good set list that will please casual and hardcore fans alike.
